This iconic local event invites athletes of all levels to take on a fun and exciting summer challenge in beautiful Pohara. Participants will navigate a unique course featuring a sea swim, a mountain bike ride, and a beach run.

It’s the perfect opportunity to push your limits and compete for trophies, certificates, prizes - including GOLD!

GOLD PRIZES* for the fastest boy and girl in Golden Bay!

A passionate and generous local sponsor is keen to encourage local children to improve their physical fitness, because as we all know a healthy mind needs a healthy body! He has generously donated one half oz GOLD COIN (or ingot) for the first under 18 Golden Bay boy and girl!

* These gold prizes can only be won by local Golden Bay children who have lived in Golden Bay permanently for the last three or more years.

About The Event

The Tinbum Triathlon is a local event in Pohara, just 10 minutes drive east from Takaka in Golden Bay, Tasman, New Zealand.

The distances involved are quite achievable for a wide range of people, so it can be a fun family event or a serious competition - the choice is yours. Plus there are plenty of great spot prizes to be won!

The triathlon has been running since 1999 and features a sea swim, a multi-terrain bike and a running leg. It  starts and finishes at the Pohara Top 10 Holiday Park.

Proceeds from the event are donated to the Golden Bay Community Chest administered by the amazing team at the Mohua Social Services Charitable Trust.

Registrations can be done online and on race day:
09:00AM    Race day registration opens
10:00AM    Registration closes
10:10AM    Pre-race safety briefing (compulsory)
10:30AM    Race start
